Asahi is a Japanese camera brand known for their durable and simple SLR cameras. The Pentax S3 is no exception. A simple to use but beautifully durable body with a great selection of lenses thanks to the universal M42 mount. The Pentax S3 was introduced in 1960 and is a non TTL, completely mechanical camera. This means there is no light meter and no battery in the device.
The S3 is definitely not a camera that is easy to use. You will have to buy or download a light meter in order to get your exposures right. However, what the S3 lacks in perks it gains in robustness. There is really nothing that can break on this body and it sure looks pretty. Even the frame counter is beautiful and has to be reset by hand every time you load more film.
The lens fitted to this body is a Takumar 55mm f/1.8 portrait lens. It works well with people but can also be used for anything from landscapes to street photography.
