The F801 is Nikons attempt to improve the autofocus function on their semi-pro style cameras. This was a leap foreword when the camera came out back in the day. All Nikon F-mount lenses are compatible with the body. The AI and AI-S lenses can be used fully manual whilst the newer lenses can either be used in manual, semi-automatic or automatic mode. The internal light meter makes the camera a charm to use especially in aperture priority mode. This enables the photographer to set the aperture and lets the camera decide the appropriate shutter speed.
The 50mm F/1.8 lens is fast and perfect in lower light conditions. This lens is perfect for portraits, street photography and landscapes. A real all-rounder.
Because of the set up and the quality of the body this camera is perfect for beginner analoge photographers. The functions might seem a little bit overwhelming at first but are easily learned and the internet is full of informational videos about this camera.
This body has an extra feature which is a data back. This enables the imprinting of information on the negative and automatic exposure bracketing for example.
