The Nikon F3 was Nikon’s third generation professional SLR camera. Following its predecessors, the F and F2 Nikon bodies, the F3 was the first of its kind that used batteries. At first this deterred professionals to purchase the F3, however after the body was put through its trials it earned many photographers trust. This is proven by the length of time the camera was in production. Whilst it was being superseded by two other cameras it remained ini production. The Body was first introduced in 1980 and was in production till 2000. The reason for its popularity was the quality of the build and the ruggedness the camera has. The Nikon F3 is either manually operated or set to aperture priority mode. In this mode the operator sets the aperture and camera chooses the proper shutter speed for a well exposed image.
