Nikkormat El was produced to be a mid-ranged camera. It became popular for consumers because of its robustness and great optics. Also, the automatic mode made it popular and easy to use. It was one of the first of its kind with this type of autoexposure mode. This mode did not change much in the later and more advanced models Nikon produced later.
The lens attached to this body is the very fast 50mm F/1.4 lens. With a very shallow depth of field this lens is very wel suited for portraits, landscapes and general photography. This camera is easy to use and with its aperture priority mode you don’t have to think about the shutter speed when taking images. This camera is great for beginner analoge photographers because of its simple lay-out and semi-automatic mode. However, because of the image quality of the lens that is attached it is also great for the more advanced shooter.
