The Minolta XG-M was developed by Minolta to be the top of the line consumer camera. So its was built for semi-professional consumers and seasoned veterans. Therefore the camera was fitted with a great autoexposure system. This works in aperture priority mode. The photographer chooses the aperture and the camera does the rest of the work deciding the correct shutter speed. Minolta’s cameras are easy to use and set up. The controls are straight foreword, this makes the camera great for the beginning analog photographer. However the camera is also very usable for the more experienced analoge photographer.
The lens is sharp and easy to focus, plus it is really fast with a maximum aperture of F/2. This makes for great buttery bokeh in portraits but when stopped down is also great for use on the street and landscapes.
