A tiny little 35mm camera produced in the USSR and made famous by Austrian students causing a whole new photographic style; lomography. The Lomo LC-A was picked up by Austrian students that where looking for a lightweight and small camera they could use every day. This sparked a new photographic discipline now known as Lomography.
The typical lomography style implies the photographer does not necessarily look at what they are taking a picture of, they get really close to the subject and just let the camera dot he work. There are nog real set rules and blurry, unsharp, over or underexposed images are regularly made. Nothing is on purpose and nothing is by accident its just a lot of fun which creates stunning images. The best way to practice this kind of photography is by using a camera that you can take everywhere and use all the time. The Lomo LC-A is a perfect example of that. Furthermore it is simple to use with limited options to fiddle with.
This camera seems like a gimmick but it is definitely not. When used properly it creates stunning images and when used ‘incorrectly’ it does as well! Best use for this camera are not studio projects but are great to use as an everyday carry and for everyone who want to take pictures on a daily basis.
