Have you always wanted to dabble in expired film but don’t know where to find it? Look no further! For the more adventurous photographers we have created the perfect opportunity to buy and shoot expired film. We offer a surprise package with three color films.
When shooting expired film there are a few things to keep in mind. First of all that the images may (probably) not look like they are advertised. This, of course, is part of the fun shooting with it. You will not know the results. However, as photographers we like to have at least a bit of control over the image that we are making. Therefore there are a couple of rules of thumb you may want to know when shooting the expired stuff.
First off all: Overexpose! Black and white films need more light as they get older so an extra stop of light is needed for every decade (10 years) the film is past its due date.
Secondly: Expect the unexpected. There are forums online where photographers show you work they made with expired film and one is likely to expect the same results from their batch. Chances are it will look the same but the same chance is that it will look completely different. This is the fun of shooting expired film you won’t know the results until you get your scans back.
Thirdly: Find a good lab. Getting a good lab to process your film ensures that the film wont have any other ‘defects’ other than the sands of time produced.
Film in image is an indication not a representation of the package!
